Iran's Steel Production to Reach 6.5m Tons This Year

KERMAN - Iran's steel production in the current Iranian year (started March 21) would tip the 6.5 million ton mark, registering an increase of 0.5 ton compared to that of last year, announced the Head of Iran's Steel Complex, Mostafa Mo'azen-Zadeh, here on Tuesday. Speaking at the ceremony to present the new head of the Gol-Gohar Complex, Mo'azen-Zadeh added that presently a considerable amount of concentrated iron ore, surplus to domestic needs, are stored in depots.

He called on iron ore mining companies to work towards enhancing their exports. According to the official, the Gol-Gohar Complex currently operates with a nominal capacity of 2.4 million tons of iron ore annually. Ahmad Nourbakhsh replaced Mehdi Saqafi as Gol-Gohar's new manager. (IRNA)
